Multiple Organ Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Areas affected by Squamous Carcinoma

This type of carcinoma affects or occurs in multiple organs for example the skin, lips, mouth, esophagus, Urinary bladder, prostate, lungs, vagina and the cervix. This condition is characterized by the malignant tumor of squamous epithelium. Epithelium shows squamous cell differentiation.

Squamous cell carcinoma can be  classified into seven carcinoma and these include; adenoid squamous cell carcinoma or pseudo glandular squamous cell carcinoma, basal squamous cell carcinoma , clear cell squamous carcinoma / clear cell squamous cell of the skin, keratoacanthoma, signet ring cell squamous carcinoma, spindle cell squamous carcinoma sand finally verrucous carcinoma.

 

The Grades of Squamous Carcinoma

The categorization of a carcinoma depends on whether the cancer invades underlying tissue only since invasive cancers are able to spread to other organs and use metastasis.

Bowen’s disease is sunlight induced skin disease and is normally considered an early form of squamous. Kerato cell carcinoma is a low grade deformity of the skin originating from pito-sebaceous glands, it 1contains keratin plug.

Marjolins’s ulcer is a type of squamous cell carcinoma arising from a non healing ulcers or even a burn wound.
